Starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu presents a new plot where the fate of the Pokemon universe could be in jeopardy. It’s easily the best live-action adaptation yet. It has great art style, good atmosphere, good character development, and overall it’s satisfying for the whole family. If you love Pokemon, it’s definitely worth watching. The Blu-Ray edition features Deleted Scenes, Making Of, and other bonus features.
While the books are amazing, there is something magical about the Harry Potter films. Getting to see actors and actresses breathe life into these wonderful characters is a treat. What makes this tale so special is that Harry is like any other child so kids can easily relate to him. Parents need to know that this series is filled with fantastical monsters and scary moments but most 8 year old girls will enjoy the ride.
This Disney Story is not your typical damsel in distress princess story. Moana is the story of a young adventurous girl and Demigod who must team up to save their people. The colorful animation and music bring this uplifting tale about bravery to life.
With catchy tunes, this animated musical comedy stars cute animals that enter a singing competition. While the storyline is simple, this movie has so many great tunes that you can’t help but sing along. It’s one of those movies kids will love watching over and over just to hear the music.
Following in the footsteps of Finding Nemo is not easy, but somehow Pixar succeeds with Finding Dory. The movie stars Dory, who has a memory impairment. The film shows kids that even if you have limitations, you can overcome obstacles by believing in yourself and with the help of others. It’s a powerful movie with great characters and a moving story that is both great for kids and parents.
What happens when you combine Batman with Legos? You get this fun Lego movie starring the Dark Knight. This film manages to capture the blockbuster feel of a traditional Batman movie with Lego characters, but still manages to poke fun at itself. If she loved the Lego movie and is a big fan of superheroes, she will find this movie enjoyable.
Disney has taken the animated classic, the Beauty and the Beast, and given it a live action makeover. While the storyline is similar, it’s amazing how different this version and the cartoon feel. With more realistic violence, this version has a much darker feel that may be too much for 8 year olds. Emma Watson(Belle) and Dan Stevens(the Beast) do a good job of humanizing these characters, managing to capture spectacle of this musical.
The Incredibles 2 is a fantastic movie. It’s extremely exciting and fun to watch. It understands what a superhero movie needs and has great messages underneath. The animation is stunning and has improved as has the depth and clarity of the images. The action sequences are enthralling. The lighting is impressive and represents Pixar’s best work. The characters feel fresh with intelligent conversation. The movie was epic and exhilarating. Brad Bird wrote a compelling story true to the original while also creating an exciting movie.
Through beautiful artwork and animation, Disney and Pixar are masters at telling stories. Coco is another Pixar masterpiece. Coco is about a boy name Miguel who wants to be a musician but his family doesn’t support his dream. Miguel soon finds himself in the Land of the Dead when he searches for his roots. The film beautifully weaves Hispanic and other cultures into its narrative. With an interesting plot, intriguing characters, and beautiful animation, Coco is unforgettable.
In this candy colored animated film, the Trolls are brought to life by a wonderful cast of actors and actresses including Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. When scary monsters threaten the Trolls, the Trolls must avoid being captured. With wonderful music and light hearted humor, the movie has a great message about finding happiness.
Rise of the Skywalker is a bit of a mixed bag. With that said, it’s not a movie we hate and it’s not as bad as some people say. The biggest complaint is that the story is a bit messy with a convoluted, boring opening act. There’s a lot of explaining and catch-up. They managed to get Leia into this conclusion without botching it. It’s a beautiful movie with exciting action scenes. But even though it’s visually appealing, it seems to be lacking something emotionally. Kylo Ren is explored deeply in this film, which is satisfying. There are aspects hardcore fans will like and dislike. The characters are handled well, there are fun action sequences, but as a trilogy it doesn’t feel as a cohesive whole.
Sonic fans will want to check out Sonic the Hedgehog. Fans won’t be disappointed by Sonic’s portrayal. It’s by no means a great movie, but it’s as good as a Sonic movie can get. While there aren’t a whole lot of surprises, it’s enjoyable along the way. The new character design overhaul was definitely worth it. This doesn’t feel like a cash grab — they really took care in crafting something that’s entertaining for fans. Jim Carrey has a lot of fun in his role as Dr. Robotnik. If you’re not already a Sonic fan, you’re probably not going to like this movie. Although it’s full of cliches and tropes, it’s going to please most Sonic fans. Quite frankly, it’s better than most video game movies.
I love Disney’s live action adaptations of classic Disney cartoons. As a live action movie, Lion King looks visually stunning. It’s the story of a young lion who becomes the Lion King after he father is murdered by Scar. Starring Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, and Chiwetel Ejiofora, the movie brings the jungle animals to life like never before.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is both a prequel and sequel. This is easily the worst of the Harry Potter movies, as some may find it boring. It almost seems like you don’t care much about these characters. The biggest hit against this movie is that it’s so messy, packed with too much, and hard to follow even for long-time fans. But by no means is it an awful movie, as there’s some enjoyment here. Visually it’s beautiful and most of the performances are excellent. In the opening of the film they setup the villain but failed to really do anything with his powers. Because it acts like its epic, we can still see fans liking the movie. But it’s slow-paced and really drawn out. For die-hard Harry Potter fans, there are things that don’t make sense. Although it’s a bit disappointing, fans may still want to check out this installment.
Are you ready for a whole new world? It’s the live action version of Aladdin! It’s got Will Smith as the genie! It’s got colorful music and dancing. It’s a love story! It’s got humor! Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott do a great job of bringing Aladdin and Jasmine to life. What’s there not to love? The only thing it is missing is Robin Williams.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is an animated movie featuring Miles Morales in his first feature film. When he’s bitten by a radioactive spider, he stumbles upon a machine that enables parallel universes containing other Spider-Men and Spider-Women to collide. They have to team up against the Kingpin. Surprisingly, this is even better than Homecoming and the animation is spectacular. The characters are more developed and the movie has better storytelling. Where this movie succeds is it really feels cohesive as a whole and the comedy binds it together so well. It’s surprisingly hilarious. Humor is brilliantly used throughout to improve the impact of the storytelling. It’s easily the most comic-book inspired Spider-Man movie ever. There are some fun cameos and a top-notch end credit scene you don’t want to miss. It’s evident the makers understand the characters of Spider-Man so well, as they’re really well realized. The action sequences are thrilling and the humor is great, making it one of the better Spider-Man movies. In fact, it’s so good that we can’t wait for a sequel.
Avengers: Endgame brings several storylines to a fantastic conclusion and it’s a highly satisfying film. The Avengers feel the most human they’ve ever felt. While the first act is slow and the second act is packed with action, the final act is pure awesomeness. While the pacing and cohesiveness of the film is as not as good as Infinity War, Endgame is more emotionally satisfying and takes more risks. It’s an enjoyeable film that delivers plenty of fan service. Most fans will love this film. It’s one of the biggest box office blockbusters of all-time.
Peter Parker is going on a vacation on a class trip to Europe. There have been many actors cast as Spider-man, but Tim Holland’s Spider-man is the biggest grossing Spider-Man movie. Once he puts on the Spidey suit, he can do anything – even climb walls. The supporting cast adds another layer to the storyline. Jake Gyllenhaal perfectly portrays Mysterio and Zendaya is perfectly cast as MJ.
Patty Jenkins delivered one of the most satisfying DC movies in years and she did Wonder Woman justice with a powerful character with a surprising amount of depth. We thought Gal Gadot and Chris Pine delivered wonderful performances. While the movie had its fair share of action, it was not really an action movie. Instead the focus was more on the story of Diana. It really was a breath of fresh air for comic book related movies and an entertaining movie worth watching.
