The deck has your resources, victory points, and actions you can perform. You start off small but in the end will you achieve your dreams of a bigger kingdom? The only problem? Other players have the same dreams. Race to claim as much of the unclaimed land, fending off opponents along the way. To do this you’ll hire minions, construct buildings, spruce up your castle, and fill the coffers of you treasury. If you’ve never gotten into Dominion before, this is a great starting set. It’s an amazing, wonderful tactical game and still arguably one of kings of deck-building games.

One core set is sufficent for two players with limited deck-building capabilities, but two cores yields a full set for up to 4 players with good deck building capabilities. Overall, the theme is solid, the game’s mechanisms are tight, and the narrative makes this an engaging game. Although you can play with different characters and cards, you’ll need the expansion if you want to play it more than once. If you love Arkham, co-op, or story-driven experiences, this is one worth checking out.

For instance, you can stack stones on flat stones but not on walls. Walls are not considered part of the road. On the other hand, capstones count as part of the road; they can’t be stacked on but they can flatten walls. Players can choose to place a stone on an empty space, move a stone to an adjacent space, or spread stacks of pieces along the board. We genuinely appreciate the game for the complexity in its strategy. It’s easy to learn, but challenging to master.
