Race To The Treasure is one of our favorite cooperative board games for little ones. The idea is to race the Ogre to the treasure by building a path to collect all the keys on the game board. Once the team collects all the keys, they can unlock the door to the treasure, but they must do so before the Ogre reaches the door.

Scythe is one of our favorite board games and this family friendly version is a great way to introduce kids or non gamers to in-depth strategy games. Somehow the creators have managed to take the basic mechanics of Scythe and created a more simplified version. Chutes and Ladders just got a whole lot more boring! What would happen if you took Snakes and Ladders to outer space and added a cooperative twist? You get Mole Rats In Space. In the game, players have to collect all the supplies before they head to the escape pod. The game is played with cards, which tell you how to move the mole rats and snakes. The best part? Unlike Snakes & Ladders, kids will actually have to make choices to win.

Leo Goes to the BarberAges 6+

In Leo Goes to the Barber, you are trying to get Leo to go to the Barber in 12 hours. It’s a cooperative memory game. Square pieces are laid out to form a path from Leo to the Barber. Every player is given a deck of cards, which moves Leo along on the path. The idea is to match your card’s color with the color of the card on the path so that the time doesn’t advance. If you don’t, the clock will advance because Leo will spend time chit chatting. The whole idea is that you will fail, but you will need to remember the cards along the path. Players have only 5 chances to restart.

Sequence For Kids is sort of like Tic-Tac-Toe meets matching. The board contains a bunch of different animals on it. Kids are each given 3 cards with pictures of animals on it. On their turn, they have to match the picture on the animal on their card with an animal on the board. They place one of their tokens there. The player that gets 4-in-a-row wins.

Mattel’s successor to the popular game of UNO, DOS launches this year. Designed for 2 to 4 players, this new card game adds a new twist on the family friendly game of UNO with a few new surprises up its sleeve. Like UNO, players have to match numbers and now you can even match colors. When you’re down to the last two cards, shout out ‘DOS’ to win! It’s sure to be great fun for family game night!

Mille Bornes is a classic racing card game that is similar to Go Fish. Players are given a hand of card. Some cards have mile numbers on them which advance you on the race track. Go Fish is probably one of the first card games that kids play. The goal of the game is to get 4 of the same number. In order to collect the cards, you have to ask other players if they have a certain card. If they have it, they have to hand over all matching cards. If the player doesn’t have the card, she tells you to “Go Fish!”

Happy SalmonAges 6+

Happy Salmon is a chaotic, fast-paced party card game. Players are given a deck of 12 cards that have various actions on them. The player who can get rid of their cards first wins the game. To get rid of your cards, you must perform the actions on your cards with another player to get a match. You’ll be slapping high fives, giving fist bumps, switching positions, and performing a slip sliding “Happy Salmon” hand slap.

Too Many MonkeysAges 6+

Winner of the Oppenheim Best Toy Award, Too Many Monkeys is a totally bananas card game for 2-6 players. Games last about 15 minutes. Primo the Monkey was sleeping but his friends have thrown a surprise pajama party. Flip and swap cards in numerical order to chase the pranksters away. A Wild Monkey card clears the room immediately but takes a bit of luck. Whichever player can bring an end to the mayhem and get Primo back to bed wins. Kids will learn number sequencing and probability.

Cockroach Poker is an addictive card bluffing game. In the game, you are trying to not be the loser. The loser is the player who collects 4 of the same kind of card. The idea is that you have to guess if the player passing you a card is telling the truth. There is a bit of strategy involved since you are trying to get other players out.

Who doesn’t love stacking cards up into towers and watching them fall? Rhino Hero is sort of like Jenga backwards. Players take turns carefully stacking walls and roof cards with fun challenges along the way. The first person who uses up all of their cards first wins.

North Star Games Monster MatchAges 6+

Do the Monster Match! This speedy matching card game will test your reflexes. In the game, players have to find matching monsters. Players roll the dice and have to race to find a matching monster with the matching number of parts. You have to look at the eyes, arms, and legs. The twist? More than one person can get a match and cards have different point totals. Along with the cute monster packaging, the funky and simple artwork adds to the game’s zany vibe.

You scult your creations out of play foam that never dries out. The catch? You may be required to sculpt with your eyes closed or tag team with another member. Players must correctly guess what their team sculpted before time runs out to score a point. The first team to score 20 points wins.

Nominated for 2018 Toy of the Year, Chickapig is a strategic board game for 2-4 players. Players are competing to be the first to get all 6 of their Chickapig characters to move through the same colored gate on the opposite side of the board. It’s a simple roll-and-move game. There’s a little bit of strategy involved when moving around your hay bales and dodging the pooping cow. While it’s probably not going to be a staple of family game night, it’s great light-hearted fun.

Yahtzee is the shake, score, and shout game. It’s a classic game of skill and chance that still holds its own today and is perfect for people who like dice rolling, push-your-luck games.

QwixxAges 8+

If you love Yahtzee, you’ll probably also love Qwizz, a fast family dice game. It’s a game for 2-5 players with games lasting roughly 15-20 minutes. In this dice game, you will roll dice and cross out numbers on your scorecard. The object is to cross off as many numbers on your scorecard as possible. The catch? You can only cross of numbers if they are to right of the crossed of numbers in the same row.

Here is a game that is not only fun to play, but designed to teach children about US Geography. The game comes with 4 US maps, which have a hand drawn look. It comes with 50 cards that correspond to each State and description cards. Each player gets a hand of 5 State cards. Players take turns and have to match one of their State cards with a description card that is drawn.

Clumsy ThiefAges 8+

A multiple award-winning game, Clumsy Thief is a crazy, fast-paced money game for 2-6 players. Can you add 2 numbers that equal 100? Then you can play Clumsy Thief. Players start with 7 cards. Look for any 2 cards that add up to $100 and place them face-up on the table. When the dealer says “Go!,” look at the remaining cards in your hand. If any money card adds up to 100 when added to anyone’s stack, place your card on top and take that whole pile of money. Numbers are always changing, presenting new opportunities to get money. Thief and jail cards add a fun twist. A Thief card can steal any stack, while a Jail card stops thief guards. After the stealing is complete, all players take another card from the deck. Another round of stacking and stealing begins. The game ends when any player is out of cards. The player with the most money wins.

Based on the popular book series, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid, comes this board game from Pressman. Players must race around the game board to the finish, completing various challenges in 10 seconds like “stare at person next to you without blinking” or “perform 5 push-ups”. Some challenges range from easy to impossible, but it’s a lot of fun for fans of the book series.

KlaskAges 8+

Forget air hockey, Klask is just as fun. In Klask, players use a large magnet that is placed under the table to control their magnetic gaming piece. The basic idea is just like air hockey. There are small circular goals on opposite ends. You have to push and shoot the ball into your opponent’s goal while avoiding obstacles.

Honored as Game of the Year, Azul is a beautifully crafted game for 2-4 players. Game play sessions vary between 30 to 40 minutes. It’s a good solid game. It’s an abstract game so understandably it may not appeal to everyone. It’s an easy game to learn with good strategy elements and, most importantly, it’s fun. It’s a great game to play with family that makes you think.

In Settlers Of Catan, you will have to manage your resources to take control over an island. On each roll of the dice, you will get different resources and will have to trade and use them wisely to build out your civilization.

Honored with a Game of the Year award, Ticket to Ride is an exciting train adventure game that has players attempting to visit the most cities by train within a week. May the best adventurer win!

Forbidden IslandAges 10+

Similar to Pandemic, Forbidden Island is a cooperative game that uses a lot of the same mechanics. Because it is simpler and on a smaller scale, it is a good game to play before playing Pandemic. In Forbidden Island, players must work together to recover artifacts and escape on a helicopter before the island sinks. As the game reaches its conclusion, it gets more and more tense.

KingdominoAges 8+

Winner of Game of the Year 2017 honors, Kingdomino is a family strategy game for 2-4 players. Your objective is to build the best castle. It’s like dominoes with a fun twist! Game times last around 15 minutes. When players complete their 5 x 5 grid, the game ends and points are awarded based on the number of connecting tiles and crowns.

CarcassonneAges 7+

Every time you play Carcassonne, the game is different. Players pick up tiles and connect them to the existing tiles by matching various elements. The object of the Carcassonne is to score the most points by placing knights, farmers and thieves on the tiles. The player who scores the most points wins.

DixitAges 8+

Dixit is a humorous party game full of imaginative storytelling. It’s a game for 3-6 players with games lasting roughly 30 minutes. Dixit is one of the best party games we’ve seen in a long time. It’s a game where you’re trying to outthink each other and you’re playing with picture cards. The catch? You’re trying to give out clues so some people choose the correct answer but not all. If you play with people who are creative this can be a really entertaining game. Don’t be fooled by its box artwork – it’s certainly a game that leaves an impression and a game worth checking out.

King of TokyoAges 8+

King of Tokyo is a game for two to six players. You’ll battle as a monster, robot, or alien. You can choose to attack, heal yourself, level-up your monster, or charge ahead. Games last about half an hour. Will you become King of Tokyo?

SantoriniAges 8+

In this primarily 2-player game, players move their workers and build their town of Santorini. The first player to reach the third level with one of their workers wins. Alternatively, if you can’t move or build on your turn, you lose. It has thoughtful details in its design and is brilliant in its simplicity.

Magic MazeAges 8+

Magic Maze is one of the most unique cooperative games. In Magic Maze, you are cooperatively working together to make your way out of a mall after robbing it. The twist? You are forced to use minimal communication as much of the game is played in silence. Every player can only perform one specific action such as moving left or going up an escalator that none of the other players can do. Often times you will bang a red “Do Something” pawn on the table to get the attention of another player. Thanks to the sand timer, expect a lot of chaos and fun.

Camel UpAges 8+

In Camel Up, players are given a deck of cards to bet on which camel will win the race. The race is divided into a various rounds. The idea is to bet as early as possible. One of the coolest components is dice pyramid which releases a colored die that is used to move the camels.
