Hasbro celebrated International Day of Friendship with a new campaign for My Little Pony.
At the heart of My Little Pony, it is all about friendship and what better way to celebrate friendship than with random acts of kindness. The campaign promoted ‘Friend It Forward’- much like pay it forward. In this case, we are forwarding our friendship instead of money.
The campaign officially launched at San Diego’s Comic-Con and attendees were asked to ‘Friend It Forward’ at Hasbro’s booth. My Little Pony fans could also join in on the action by using the hashtags, #FriendshipIsMagic or #FriendItForward, or by utilizing Snapchat’s special My Little Pony filter.
Through the end of August, Hasbro has announced that it will donate one dollar to GenerationOn up to $50K for all acts of friendship utilizing the tags #FriendshipIsMagic or #FriendItForward.
Samantha Lomow, SVP of Hasbro, stated that they are motivated by their fans’ good nature and wanted to remind us all that even a small gesture can be powerful in terms of friendship.
Walmart, Target, ToysRUs and Amazon all delivered special online deals on certain My Little Pony toys on July 30th, the International Day of Friendship.
In related news, on October 6th, My Little Pony: The Movie debuts in theaters. It should be a big celebration for fans as My Little Pony makes its way to the big screen. It’s an animated musical fantasy film based on the TV series, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Even though the International Day of Friendship has past, we should never forget to show our kindness and friendship and ‘Friend It Forward’ every now and then to make the world a better place one friendship at a time. Many of the new My Little Pony toys will be based on this new movie.
