Former Google exec to take over as CEO of Mattel.
Earlier this year, Mattel announced Margaret Georgiadis, a former Google executive, as its new CEO.
This is the company’s second CEO change since 2015. Beginning February 8, 2017, Georgiadis will take over control of the company from Christopher Sinclair. Sinclair served as CEO from early 2015.
Georgiadis led Google’s commercial operations and ad sales in the United States, Canada, and Latin America for six years. She also worked at Groupon as COO and at Discover Financial as their Chief Marketing Officer. She will also join Mattel’s Board of Directors. She also is on the board for McDonald’s.
Georgiadis recognized Mattel for its contributions to inspiring children though play and creativity over several generations. She has witnessed this first-hand as a parent and is honored and excited to be onboarding with the company at this time of renewed focus.
