Mattel and BTS are joining forces to launch Barbie BTS Dolls, arriving on store shelves on September 1st.
Topping the Billboard album charts, BTS is one of the hottest K-Pop bands in the world right now. Earlier this year, Mattel revealed that it was collaborating with the popular South Korean boy band to create fashion dolls. There was tons of buzz and excitement around it especially from fans of BTS, the BTS Army. At Toy Fair, we only got a glimpse of the actual uniforms BTS wore in their iconic “IDOL” music video.
Everybody was excited to see what the actual dolls would look like. After teasing the dolls on social media, Mattel has finally unveiled the dolls.
Making a reference to their 2017 platinum hit single, Mattel tweeted:
MIC Drop, ARMY! ?For the first time ever, we're thrilled to show you the line of #BTSxMattel fashion dolls! Take a look at V, SUGA, Jin, Jung Kook, RM, Jimin and j-hope as dolls inspired by the Idol music video! ??#BTSDollsOfficial @BigHitEnt pic.twitter.com/0fd1XpLVFF

The seven 11.5-inch dolls are dressed in colorful outfits that resemble the clothing worn in their “IDOL” music video. Each doll features 11 points of articulation and will retail for $20.
The band announced its next album — Map of Soul: Persona, dropping in April — and is on the Love Yourself : Speak Yourself World Tour. The dolls will be on store shelves on September 1st.

Alongside the fashion dolls, Mattel will be releasing a BTS version of UNO. It has all of the fun of UNO but features BTS themed cards, a special rule, and a special BTS card.
Response to the dolls has been mixed. The detail in the snazzy outfits is spot-on. Mattel even captured some of the smaller details, like Namjoon’s dimples and Jimin’s lips. Still, some are disappointed with the facial features and hair.
From Jung Kook’s cherry red bangs to SUGA’s braids, the members of BTS are famous for their eccentric hair colors and styles. Take a look at V, SUGA, Jin, Jung Kook, RM, Jimin, and j-hope — and let us know what you think in the comments below.
