Classic Nintendo and Sega systems are back in 2016!

Old-school classic gaming is making a resurgence in the form a new NES and Sega Genesis. Remember the old rivalry from the commercials: “Genesis does what Nintendo don’t.” The old rivalry will heat up and be rekindled beginning in time for the Holiday Season. Which one will end up on our ultimate Christmas toys 2021 list? In one corner we have the Nintendo NES Classic. And, in the other corner, we have the Genesis Classic Game Console. Let the battle begin!

The Classic NES will feature 30 top games and will retail for under $60. The console will arrive on store shelves for the holidays. The console will feature top Nintendo classics, including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong and many more! The mini Classic edition doesn’t accept original NES cartridges. Without any special adapters necessary, the system will connect to modern day televisions (e.g., HDTVs). When the news hit the Internet, gamers went crazy and the story eventually went viral.

Interestingly, as the momentum surrounding Nintendo’s NES Classic news began dwindling, news spread regarding the Genesis Classic. This console is produced by AtGames. This console will feature 80 built-in games and additionally it will have a cartridge port that will be compatible with most Sega Genesis classic games. Some of the games you can look forward to include: Sonic the Hedgehog games, Mortal Kombat I, II, III, Golden Axe, among others. The updated Genesis Classic will come bundled with two wireless controllers and it will feature two legacy controller ports for wired gamepads.

In addition to this, AtGames will be releasing a handheld version with all of the same games called the Ultimate Genesis Portable Game Player. This will be a portable gaming system featuring a 3.2” screen.

But wait, there’s another competitor besides Nintendo and Sega! The classic gaming wars will further heat up with the introduction of the Retro-Bit Generations, an affordable ($60) mini console featuring over 100 arcade classics, from Retro-Bit. Generations will include a robust library of arcade classics, such as Ghosts’N Goblins, Gun Smoke, Kid Niki Radical Ninja, Kung Fu, Captain Commando, Super R-Type, The Super Bases Loaded Series, Brawl Brothers, Ring King and many more.
