Amazon introduces new monthly STEM subscription service, delivering toys to your door for $20/month.

Just last month, Amazon launched a brand new STEM toys subscription service. The new service is called STEM Club and families can receive educational toys for as low as $19.99 / month with free shipping. Amazon will decide on the toys that will be shipped and they’ll ensure they are age-appropriate for your child.

STEM toys focus on science, technology, engineering, and math. Amazon’s STEM Club subscription service will only include toys that have recently launched or toys that are exclusive to Amazon.

Parents sign-up for the service by visiting the STEM Club homepage, selecting your child’s age range (available options include 3-4, 5-7, and 8-13). Your first toy is delivered in less than a week with free shipping. After that a new toy is delivered every month. The service is currently only available in the United States.

This is not Amazon’s first time to highlight STEM toys. In 2015, it launched the STEM Toys & Games Store for browsing STEM-related toys and merchandise. STEM toys was a popular section and experienced the highest sales volume during the 2014 holiday season. This is an attempt to capitalize on parents’ interest in the STEM toy trend and encourage learning. Additionally, this is an avenue for Amazon to earn a recurring revenue stream. It will be interesting to see if parents sign up for the service and whether the service takes off.
