Force Friday II marketing push to drive new Star Wars toys and merchandise sales.
The new Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in theaters this December. Disney and Lucasfilm recently announced Force Friday II, a successor to the 2015 promotional marketing to reveal new Star Wars related merchandise. Force Friday II will be scheduled for September 1, 2017 and is expected to drive Star Wars toys and merchandise sales.
Retail stores will remain open until midnight to offer new Star Wars products to fans just like in the original Force Friday. Fans can expect live stream product unboxings and social media discussion based on the new Star Wars toys and other related merchandise.
The new Star Wars product assortment has yet to be revealed. Only tentative product packaging has been revealed to get fans excited.
The global launch will leverage new technology in tandem with Star Wars mythology to offer a unique experience for Star Wars fans.
In an effort to build excitement leading up to the event, Disney plans to keep the product details a secret. As a hint, some of the new products may build on the Sphero BB-8 droid technology. Also, fans should note we’ve already seen a RC BB-8, the Hero Droid BB-8, from SpinMaster at the Toy Fair.
