Hasbro reports profits in second quarter of 2016.

Hasbro has reported better than expected profits and revenue for the second quarter of 2016. Profit and revenue has been primarily driven by strong demand for Disney Princess and Frozen dolls and action figures based on the Star Wars movies.

Revenue from toys targeted toward boys (“Star Wars” toys and Nerf blasters) rose 4 percent in the second quarter.
Revenue from toys targeted toward girls (Disney Princesses – Cinderella / Snow White) increased 35 percent.

Licensed toys are critical to the toy industry, as they make up almost 30 percent of sales. To put that in perspective that is nearly one-third of all toy sales. The industry expects strong sales this Christmas from licensed toys based on Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Secret Life of Pets, Trolls, and Finding Dory movies released this year.
