LEGO announced the winner of its worldwide LEGO Friends competition.
LEGO recently announced that Sienna, an 8-year-old girl from Great Britain, was declared the winner of LEGO’s worldwide LEGO Friends competition. Interestingly, this is the very first time ever that a child created a working concept for the LEGO Friends line.
The global competition featured more than 28,000 entries from across the globe. Of these entries about 3,000 were from the United Kingdom. The competition challenged kids from around the world to create a new building set for Heartlake City, which is tied to the LEGO Friends buildable construction toys.
The pool of contestants was narrowed down to the 10 best finalists and Sienna’s design of Heartlake Playground was ultimately declared the winning design after nearly 30,000 entries. It is quite an accomplishment for Sienna and a dream come true.
Rebecca Snell from LEGO stated how inspiring it has been to see fans and children from around the world tap into their creativity and imagination and design fun and on-point ideas for LEGO Friends.
Snell added that LEGO is delighted with Sienna and stated that her Playground design is a perfect addition to Heartlake City because every city should have a playground to play in.
Sienna and her family will travel to LEGO Group’s headquarters in Denmark to collaborate with the LEGO design team to bring her design to reality.
And the Heartlake Playground will be available at Toys R Us, LEGO retail stores as well as LEGOLAND stores beginning in September 2017. Now let’s see how well-received this new LEGO Friends set will be. Will it be one of the top toys and gifts for girls and make the elusive top toys of Christmas 2021 list?
