LEGO Ideas Review sets into motion fans’ vision into reality.
LEGO has announced that it will soon release a brand new LEGO minifigures set based on five female NASA scientists, engineers, and astronauts. It is tentatively being called the Women of NASA minifigures set.
Maia Weinstock submitted the idea via LEGO Ideas Review and over 10,000 fans cast their vote in favor of the idea.
The upcoming LEGO minifigures set includes LEGO minifigures of Margaret Hamilton, Katherine Johnson, Sally Ride, Nancy Grace Roman, and Mae Jemison. The set is inspired by real women who have worked for NASA.
LEGO and Maia Weinstock are collaborating on finalizing the design for this special set. It is planned for release by late 2017 or early 2018.
Weinstock was congratulated by LEGO for becoming an official LEGO Ideas fan designer. She is a science editor and writer who has a strong interest in space explorations and has a great regard for the history of women in science and engineering.
Weinstock’s women of NASA project celebrates well-regarded women in STEM professions. These are women who made major impacts through their work at NASA.
LEGO stated that it is excited to introduce Weinstock’s Women of NASA set because it is inspirational and offers a great build and play experience for LEGO fans.
